By Larry Littlefield in response to a "City of Dust" article about the Davis Mercantile in Milnsand, NM:
IN about 1962 I went with my grandfather, Asa Williamson, to buy a new pocket knife from Paul (Davis) cause he had lost his. After perusing the display cases fort a while he picked out a nice 5 inch Case. When he opened his billfold to pay, out dropped the lost knife. A duplicate to the one he just picked out. He turned to me and said "Would you like this one?" and to Paul "I'll take the new one anyway Paul!". It is still in the drawer here next to me. I was also given the new one when he passed a couple years later. I never mentioned the first one to the family at the time, so I had two!.
Also there were many trips to the Davis store for windmill parts and such during the summers on the ranch. I didn't remember the cokes being free, but I wasn't paying anyway.
